A popular line from a movie comes to mind as I sit to write – ‘The hand that rocks the cradle is the one that rules the world.’ And as the world transforms into an online digital one, it is exciting to see women taking charge of their lives, from the comfort of their homes.
Building a personal brand is a key way to get people to invest in your product or service. Remember, people buy from people. And once trust and authenticity is established, it makes it easier for clients to use and propagate your service.
If two years ago, someone told me I would be earning seven figures, working for Global Leaders, I would have laughed at their face. But today, I am armed with a superpower no amount of AI can take away from me – Words. And I am doing this from the comfort and luxury of my own home. If I can start at 44 despite being mocked at and told I would never make it – You can too. And that is a story for another day!
The best time to build your personal brand is now and this is the best investment you would make. So, let me share some secrets and tips that worked for me as I was building my personal brand. But before we begin, I would urge you to first Define your brand identity.
How to define your Personal Brand Identity:
- Who is it that you want to be?
- What is it that you want to be known for?
- What are your core values?
Identifying these will help you find your unique skillset and target audience. Remember, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, all you need is to learn another way to drive the car!
Know the Best Platform to Build a Personal Brand
Move aside Whatsapp, get on Linkedin and leverage the network and gain credibility.
LinkedIn is a powerful platform for homepreneurs like you, to build credibility and network with potential clients. Optimize your LinkedIn profile by using a professional headshot, crafting a compelling headline that highlights your expertise and writing a detailed summary that tells your story and showcases your achievements.
Regularly share valuable content, such as articles, insights, and updates about your business or service. Engaging with your network through comments and messages can also strengthen your relationships and expand your reach.
Content is king in the digital world. To build a strong personal brand, consistently create and share valuable content that aligns with your brand identity. This can include blog posts, social media updates, videos, and podcasts.
Focus on providing solutions to common problems faced by your target audience. For example, if you offer coaching services, share tips on effective time management or strategies for balancing work and home life. High-quality content will position you as an authority in your niche and attract potential clients.
Role of other Social Media Platforms
While LinkedIn is crucial, don’t overlook other social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Each platform has its unique advantages and audience. Tailor your content to suit the platform and engage with your followers through regular posts, stories, and live sessions.
Showcase behind-the-scenes glimpses of your work, share client testimonials, and highlight your successes. Consistent and authentic engagement on social media will enhance your personal brand’s visibility and credibility.
Building Personal Brand through Networking
Networking and collaboration are vital for personal brand growth. Join online communities, forums, and groups related to your industry. Participate in discussions, offer your insights, and connect with like-minded professionals.
Collaborating with other homepreneurs or influencers can also amplify your brand. Joint ventures, guest posts, and co-hosted webinars are excellent ways to reach a broader audience and build mutually beneficial relationships.
Focus on personal development & seek feedback
Continuous learning and personal development are essential for staying ahead in the competitive business landscape. Attend webinars, workshops, and courses to enhance your skills and knowledge. Share your learning experiences with your audience to demonstrate your commitment to growth and excellence.
Regularly seek feedback from your clients, peers, and mentors. Constructive feedback will help you identify areas for improvement and refine your brand strategy. Be open to adapting and evolving your brand based on the feedback you receive and the changing market trends.
Building a strong personal brand as a homepreneur requires dedication, consistency, and strategic efforts. By defining your brand identity, leveraging LinkedIn, creating valuable content, utilizing social media, networking, investing in personal development, and seeking feedback, you can establish a powerful personal brand that attracts global clients and drives your business success.
Remember, your personal brand is a reflection of who you are and what you stand for. Stay authentic, stay committed, and watch your brand flourish.
I’ll leave you with one thought. When you build your brand, do it in silence. Take it like a game of chess. Work hard and smart and when you are ready to win – that is when, like chess, you get up and say ‘Checkmate!’
If I can do it, so can you!
