Expert Checklist: 7 Vastu Shastra Tips you should not ignore before buying a new home

Vastu Shastra is an ancient science which most of the people tend to ignore these days, but it is a science which was introduced 6000 years ago when Vedas were written. Apart from Vedas, you will also find verses related to Vastu shastra in many Puranas and Shastras as well. The kings and our ancestors used to follow each and every step while constructing their Forts or temples during that time.

Applying Vastu shastra at your home can help to channel good vibes and progress in your life. The main purpose to follow Vastu shastra is to give any property a good environment and make it perfect to work or to reside in.

Especially if you are looking for a new house, here are some main points to keep in mind which most of the people ignore or don’t pay much attention to.

1. Environment & surroundings:

Always check the environment or the location where the home you are planning to purchase or to rent out is located. The location must not be very close to public gathering hubs like hospitals, temples, schools or party places, etc. As these places may disturb the healthy and peaceful vibrations a home must have.

2. House Facing Do’s and Don’ts:

Check the directions in which the house is facing. I’ve observed that many times while checking the directions with the help of a phone compass people stand at the main door facing inside the house, check the degree and assume that is the direction that the property is facing. But the degree mentioned on top of the compass app shows the directions people are facing. It misguides people sometimes. Always keep in mind that if you want to see your main door facing you have to check it from inside of the house and then see the top mentioned degree and direction.

Here’s a tip as per Vastu, the general directions to avoid for the main entrance are South and South West. It is not considered beneficial to have the house’s entrance in these zones.

3. Proper Ventilation and Light:

We have seen many properties’ without proper ventilation or light energies getting dull and negative. Natural light and ventilation are important aspect of Vastu. Always make sure that there are enough windows in the property, and that they are properly located to allow a good flow of positive energy.

Here’s a tip for you as per the Vastu theory – the best location to have the windows is in the North East of the house and the zones to avoid are South and South West. But, having said that the windows in the negative zones are 100 % treatable to rectify any Vastu Dosh.

4. Trees and Poles:

Ensure that the entrance and windows are not blocked by huge trees, electric poles, or any other huge structures that might block the flow of positive energy inside the house.

5. Colour Correction:

The house shouldn’t have too many colorful walls as it may sometimes disturb the Vastu of the room. Though we might have heard that while correcting a Vastu doh or mistake, color therapy is required. Yes, it is absolutely correct, but it shouldn’t be done without the proper guidance of an experienced Vastu Expert.

Here’s a tip for you – a general color to avoid in the bedrooms or at homes is Red and it’s family shades. This color gives heating effects and is not beneficial for Residential Vastu.

6. Leakages, dampness and strange smell:

People overlook or ignore seepage or dampness while looking for a home. They feel they can get it fixed later on. But, there shouldn’t be any kind of dampness inside the house as it may attract negative vibes. Also, any kind of leakage from the water outlets or any kind of unexplainable strange smell at home is totally unacceptable while looking for a new home as per Vastu. As this may indicate bad energies present at home. These are considered as the least noted, but an important part for Vastu Shastra.

7. Layout:

Last but not the least and most importantly the layout of a house. The washroom and the kitchen shouldn’t have a common wall in between; and same goes for the washroom and the mandir. The bedrooms should never be located in the South East or South of South East as these zones may enhance the fire element of the residents using these bedrooms. Avoid keeping washrooms or the kitchen in water zones which are from North, North West to North East.

Keeping these main points in mind while selecting a home to buy are must as the property you are planning to purchase is your long-term asset where you can imagine yourself living peacefully and happily. This guidance will help you choose a home that supports well-being and harmony according to Vastu Shastra principles. If in case you have selected a property with the given Vastu Doshas, you can easily treat them and make the houses Vastu Compliant with some guidance from a Vastu Expert.
