Your Secret Guide: 5 Expert-Backed Detox Tips to Reset your Body after Festive Binge

1. Hydration and Green Tea Detox

Start your day with a glass of warm water with a few drops of lemon in it. You can also prepare a detox water with – ginger, cucumber, mint, and lemon slices. Apart from detox water, you can also drink herbal teas like green tea or tulsi tea to flush out toxins more often.

2. Detox Smoothies

Here are 2 recipes for a detox smoothie that’s rich in fiber and antioxidants.

I call this one a Balanced Detox Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup spinach or kale

½ cucumber

1 green apple

½ lemon juice

A small piece of ginger

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 cup coconut water or plain water

How to Prepare: Blend all ingredients together for a refreshing, detoxifying drink.

Apple beetroot carrot smoothie (ABC smoothie)

Ingredients:

1 apple

1 beetroot

1 carrot

1 inch pc of ginger

Water

How to Prepare: Just blend these ingredients and your ABC smoothie is ready!

3. Indulge in light, fibre-rich meals

Speaking of detox tips, we can never skip this one. Include salads in your meals with a mix of greens, legumes, and seeds. For example, a quinoa salad with greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and a light lemon dressing is a great choice for post-festive light eating.

You may also consider including vegetable khichdi for lunch, which is light on gut and yet nutritious enough.

4. Cleanse with Cleansing Soup

This soup is light, hydrating, and easy on digestion, making it perfect for detoxing during winters.

Ingredients:

1 carrot, diced

1 celery stalk, chopped

1 zucchini, diced

1 onion, chopped

1 garlic clove, minced

1 cup spinach

1 -2 tsp olive oil

4 cups vegetable broth

Herbs like basil, thyme, and parsley

How to prepare: Sauté the garlic and onion in olive oil. Add the vegetables and broth, and simmer for 20 minutes. Add spinach and herbs before serving.

5. Add Probiotics to your meals

After heavy meals, include natural probiotics like yogurt, kefir, or fermented foods like kimchi to help restore gut health. Probiotic foods help in digestion and absorption of nutrients from foods, making sure that you get the most nutritional benefit out of what you eat.
